Frequently Asked Questions

Special Considerations for Pediatrics

What should I do to make my child feel safe?
Special care is taken to make children feel safe and comfortable while at our Center. Parents are encouraged to bring their child in for a tour of the Center before the day of surgery to meet the staff and lessen their child's anxiety.

Who should bring the child to the Center?
A parent or legal guardian must accompany the patient to the Center and plan on staying at the Center until the child is ready for discharge. Young children should be accompanied by two adults for the trip home. Parents are encouraged to stay with their children during pre-anesthesia and recovery periods to help minimize separation anxiety and give your child a sense of security. Please make arrangements to leave other siblings at home as they will not be permitted to visit the clinical areas.

What should I bring to the Center?
Please bring diapers, bottles, and a change of clothes or pajamas as appropriate. You may bring a toy, blanket, or pacifier if you think that it will make you child feel more comfortable.
